Cunha headquarters
The main house project is located in the valleys of Serra do Mar, near Pedra da Macela, a tourist attraction in the Cunha region, from where it is possible to see the sea, the mountains and the city of Paraty. Since 2017, we have been working on architecture and interior design projects for a variety of uses. We started with small renovations to improve the distribution of wet areas and living spaces, and we also created a new outdoor gourmet area.
Over the years, with the increased use of the site, new demands were created, and so we renovated the caretaker's house, built a laundry room, a studio with a chicken coop, and recently, a new headquarters for the site. Due to local environmental legislation and its proximity to a stream, the area is an environmental protection area and, therefore, it is not possible to build new buildings. Due to this condition, it was necessary to preserve the existing volumes of the old buildings, but adapt them to their new uses.
All the constructions were carried out using local labor and materials. The bricks were made by Cunha’s brickmakers, Zé Tabuinha and Burrico. Much of the wood used was taken from eucalyptus trees on the site itself and produced on site by Leco, a specialist in wood cutting. And the work was done by master builders who have worked in the region for over 40 years. This openness of the office and clients to local work brings uniqueness to the projects and makes the site a special place in the region.
