The Casa Nica project is located on the outskirts of the city of Cunha, 250km from São Paulo. We were asked to renovate a 50m2 house. Due to local environmental legislation, it is not possible to build new buildings in the region near the rivers and, therefore, it was necessary to preserve the existing volumes.

To achieve this, in the Casa Nica project we built new facades following the perimeter of the old house, which was demolished in order to reuse the bricks to build the internal partitions of the new house. To achieve better spatial quality, we sought reference in the Paraguayan Culata Jovai typology, in which the shared living room is the main space of the residence and where all the others lead.
