laundry

The Laundry project is located on the outskirts of the city of Cunha, 250km from São Paulo. We were asked to build a laundry where there was previously a vegetable garden.

Due to local environmental legislation, it is not possible to build new buildings in the region near the rivers and, therefore, it was necessary to preserve the existing volume. To do this, we took advantage of the existing foundation and built two lateral volumes free from the ground to make it difficult for humidity to accumulate and for animals to enter an environment that needs to be open to allow air to circulate and clothes to dry. In these two volumes, built with hollow bricks to allow cross-circulation, we concentrated the storage cabinets, the bathroom and the work benches with the washing machines and dryers.
