Angatuba house
The Angatuba House Renovation is located in the Pacaembu neighborhood, in the city of São Paulo. We were asked to renovate a 300m2 residence, built in 1940, replacing all the necessary infrastructure and transforming the spaces for a new family to live in.
During the construction process, we investigated, together with engineers and bricklayers, how constructive experimentation, through the reuse of demolition bricks, allows us to propose new sustainable and economical forms for spatial, functional and tectonic issues. As a design strategy, two infrastructure cores were inserted in the center of the two buildings on the site. This core is structured by four concrete columns between which we positioned two staircases that, when articulated by a walkway, allow the two buildings to communicate with each other.
From this insertion, the new environments begin to be articulated around this infrastructural core with the partitions made by wall-cabinets built with bricks recovered from the demolition.
